zone has attracted 1062 projects from 37 countries and regions. The total investment reached 11.152 billion USD with 8.143 billion contracted foreign capital and 3,883 billion paid up. Among all the investment projects, there were 270 with over 10 million USD and 18 projects came from Fortune 500 companies. The pillar industries of the zone are electronic information, precision machinery, and daily necessities.

Since the opening of the zone, 7.5 billion yuan has been poured into the construction of transportation,telecommunica-tion , environment protection, energy and other infrastructure. The zone got the certificate of ISO 14001. Beijing- Shanghai Railway, Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, National Highway 312, Shanghai-Suzhou Airport Expressway all run through the city. It takes one hour drive from Kunshan to Shanghai Port  and Pudong and Hongqiao Airports . There is an export pro-cessing zone, Jiangsu International Commerce Center and a pioneering Park for overseas students in the zone, providing good environment for various investors.
