The city's total commercial turnover was 52.61 billion yuan, up by 16.5% over the previous year. Among it the whole-saling and retail volume was 43.832 billion yuan and the turnover of catering industry was 8.52 billion yuan, increasing by 15.6% and
26.9% respectively. The total retail value
in the city was 37.21 billion yuan and that in the countryside
was 15.4 billion yuan, up by 17.3% and 14.5% respectively.
As new selling methods including shopping malls, supermarkets
and convenience stores become standardized and their scales
grow bigger, the restructuring of department stores and
franchised shops have been quickened and the city's commerce
is taking a new shape of winning by scales and competing
through own advantages. The application of information
technology on the purchasing, sales, settlement, warehousing,
distribution, stock management facilitated the informationalization
of the city's commerce. The on-line purchasing and sales
made new progress.
