SIP Volks Electronic Co., Ltd., the first automotive oxygen censor manufacturer in China, held a grand foundation laying ceremony in China-Singapore Science Hub, SIP, on Jan. 11.

Volks project, introduced by SIP Technological Investment Promotion Center in collaboration with returned Chinese students in Oct. 2006, is an automotive enterprise specializing in research and development, and production of oxygen censors for automobiles. Within a year, the company has successfully developed auto oxygen censor of international standard, and formed partnerships with many domestic electronic control unit (ECU) and whole-car manufacturers while providing OEM service for well-known overseas auto manufacturers as a technological leader and owner of independent IPR in this field. The plant to be built in China-Singapore Science Hub with a total investment of RMB 120 million for mass production will turn out 2 million censors annually upon completion.

The oxygen censor is a crucial component in the auto electronic control unit, which is designed to monitor the oxygen content in the engine exhaust and feedback the signal pressure data to the unit in order to achieve the optimum air-fuel ratio and reduce the emission of CO, HC, and NOx.
