SIP has always attached great importance to the growth of IC industry ever since the start of development and construction, and great efforts have been made in fostering a benign policy climate to guide the investment expansion and upgrading of IC industrial chain.

The latest statistics from the municipal IC industrial association show that by the year 2007, the sales revenue of IC products in SIP had hit 22.3 billion RMB, with an increase of 53% over that of the previous year, of which IC designing made up 350 million RMB, manufacturing 2.01 billion RMB, and packaging and testing 19.94 billion RMB. The sales of IC-elated equipment and materials reached 2.9 billion RMB.

As was revealed from the news release of "2007 evaluation of competitiveness of China's development zones", SIP ranked the first in comprehensive strength largely due to the industrial policies and attraction for IC manufacturing, packaging and testing enterprises. In the recently announced list of China's innovative semiconductor products are the o.16 micrometer CMOS technology and wafer-level imaging censor chip, along with MEMS packaging technology, from HeJian Technology, SIP.

SIP is currently focusing on building IC incubation bases and completing the public technological service platform to attract more IC talents and expand the financing channels to build a more extended IC industrial chain.
