In the year 2007, SIP handled nearly 2,000 patent applications, which grew by 77% over the previous year and among which were 45.6% invention patents, ranking continuously at the top of the whole municipality. Ample incentives ranging from RMB 100,000 to 150,000 were awarded to the major patent applicants by SIP authorities.

By the end of 2007, SIP has received a total of 4,963 patent applications and authorized 2,903 of them. The IPR service and management system was further improved with the formal commencement of SIP IPR Public Service Platform and the establishment of SIP IPR Service Center and SIP IPR Complaint Center. SIP government also set up a 10-million RMB IPR protection fund in 2007 to guarantee IPR protection for all enterprises, and the fund is now increased to 15 million RMB.
