Snecama Aerospace Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. and Messier-Dowty Aerospace (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., the two subsidiaries of the French-owned Safran Corporation and manufacturers of components parts of aircraft engines and landing gears, celebrated official opening on April 7 in SIP. VIP guests at the opening ceremony were Shi Heping, Vice-governor of Jiangsu Province, Yan Li, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou. Before the ceremony, Shi and Yan met Jean-Paul Hertmeman, CEO of Safran Group, and his entourage.
Being one of the Fortune-500 enterprises, Safran Group owns four major patented technologies in aerospace propellers, aeronautical equipment, defense security, and communications, and has invested in manufacturing facilities in over 30 countries.In 2002, its subsidiary, Messier-Dowty Aerospace (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., was incorporated in Suzhou to produce and assemble medium-sized landing gears. In 2005, Safran set up another subsidiary, Snecama Aerospace Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. to manufacture parts of aircraft engines and provide technical support. The newly opened projects belong to the two companies with expanded investment and are located in SIP Export Processing Zone with a total floorage of 14,000 square meters.
Presently, a number of aerospace equipment and parts manufacturing enterprises have been set up in SIP, which tend to form an industrial cluster, and it is the policy of SIP authorities to improve the industrial chains in manufacturing and assembling of aerospace engines by introduce hi-tech enterprises while fostering relevant local industries.
