On July 14, Samsung Electronics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in SIP made a successful first attempt of "zone-port coordinated logistic operation" with the cooperation of SIP Integrated Bonded Zone, and became the second enterprise to employ this new logistic mode after AU Optronics.
Samsung is one the major manufacturing enterprises engaged in R&D, production and processing of precision electronic and aeronautic components, which call for high demands on the timeliness, safety and cost-effective logistics. The coordinated logistic operation of the bonded zone and port has been designed to cater to the requirements of such enterprises as a breakthrough in efficiency and cost control.
The coordinated zone-port operation was first launched earlier in February with AU Optronics as the first to experiment the new mode with Taicang Port, and shortly after, 3 shipping companies were introduced to open up more ocean-shipping lines.
By the coordinated logistic operation, Samsung can save the cost of 400 RMB per 40-feet container and two days's logistic time. From the unloading at the port on the day of arrival, it takes only 5 hours from unloading to shipment to the plant. Now the new logistic mode has been declared by Samsung HQ as the main export and import channels for \Samsung, and another Samsung subsidiary, the LCD plant, will soon follow suit.
