The end this month will see the section of Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway project in full swing. Preparations for caissons and bridges are all completed to ensure all-round commencement of the construction of this 73.6 kilometer section.

Because 57% of the section will be built on bridges and in tunnels, large numbers of caissons are needed to support the rails. Four spacious stacking ramps are being built in place at different locations to prefabricate and store up the 32-meter-long beams and steel girders. Construction operation areas and a total of 29km of roads are already completed to ensure construction operation. Meanwhile, the construction of Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway is progressing smoothly.
