To the aim of constructing the resource-conserving and environment-friendly social, suzhou city is doing the job of energy reduction and making up the eco-city.

The green coverage is 44.2 percent; the green rate is 38 percent; and the public green area per capita reaches 14 square meters. There are 36 towns Honored Title of National Town with Nice Environment, 10 towns honored the title of provincial Town with Nice Environment, 338 villages honored the title of provincial biological village.

UN-HABIAT gave Suzhou the UN Dubai International Award for Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment.
