Recently, a fire drill was held by the Changshu Firefighting and Emergency Rescue Brigade at the Jiangsu Changshu National Grain Depot.
The drill simulated the emergency responses after a storeroom caught fire due to aging wires. After receiving the alarm, more than 40 firefighters and 12 fire engines from the three fire squadrons in Guli town, Zhitang town and Shajiabang town rushed to the scene and quickly put out the fire.
The Jiangsu Changshu National Grain Depot, located in Guli Town of Changshu City, covers a total area of about 90,000 square meters with a building area of about 46,000 square meters. The depot, which is mainly used to store wheat and rice, has 11 one-storey warehouses including 34 storerooms. Having a storage capacity of 80,000 tons, it is the biggest of its kind in Suzhou.
There are 12 fire hydrants within 200 meters of the depot, on the south side of which is the Baimaotang River with an ample supply of water.
