The 2021 Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) was wrapped up on Oct. 15. Suzhou won the Economy Award in the Greater China area at the SCEWC this year.
The Smart City Expo World Congress is a global smart city summit sponsored by UN-Habitat, the World Economic Forum, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, and the city government of Barcelona, aiming at displaying the latest ideas and achievements of smart city construction. The 2021 edition of the summit reviewed 121 projects from 30 cities in 10 provinces, 4 municipalities and 3 autonomous regions in China and selected the winners for the 10 awards in the Greater China area, including the Economy Award and the City Award.
At the beginning of this year, Suzhou issued a three-year action plan for advancing digitalization and developing the digital economy. Focusing on digital industrialization, industrial digitalization and digital governance, the city has been striving to build itself into a national benchmark city for digitalization transformation and upgrading.
