The bridge was built during the Shaoding years of the Southern Song Dynasty. It was a three span girder bridge, east-west trend, with a total length of 21.5 meters. The posts, foundations, stones steps of the bridge remain the original Wukang stone structure of Song Dynasty, while the granite railing boards and railing columns were added and the granite pavement was replaced in a repair during the Republic of China, and the column wall, during an ancient time renovation, was reinforced with bluestones inserts. The foundation rocks and bridge columns are giant and heavy. The joints between the columns and the horizontal tying stone, and also the beam stone are seamless. On edges of the surface of three-arched bridge are six beam stones in total. Then stone slabs are put horizontally in between (surface stones). The beam stone is 31 centimeters thick on ends and 51cm thick in the middle. This is to reduce the lateral pulling force and to increase the pressure resistance capability. On the beam stone in middle arch, two Chinese Characters "Shao Ding" are inscribed. At the lower section of the outward face of the beam in the second arches people can find cloud-shape patterns. 4 half-moon pits, 18 centimeters in diameter, can be found on the horizontal tying stone beneath the beam, which are believed to harbor the logs for supporting the bridge when it was constructed.
