Stone Pagoda of Thousands of Buddha is located in Xijing village, Zhenhu Street Area, the High-tech Zone (Huqiu District), Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. In 2013 it was listed as national key cultural relics protection site.
Stone Pagoda of Thousands of Buddha is formerly known as Chan Master Tower, built during Shaoxing years in Southern Song Dynasty. On the tenth year of the Reign of Dade Emperor in Yuan Dynasty(1306) an eminent Buddhist monk called Xinri rebuilt the pagoda and was included as one of the 18 "Scenes" of Xihua(an old name for the place). In 1976, the steeple on top of the pagoda was blown down by typhoon and in 1978, Jiangsu Provincial Government appropriate a fund for renovation, and built the fence walls to protect it. In 1996 a comprehensive consolidation was executed.
Stone Pagoda of Thousands of Buddha is a single-layer square tower in simulation of Indian Stūpa style. It is composed of three parts: podium, tower and temple, made of blue stone, 11.4 meters in full height. Podium is more than two meters high and the square tower body 4.3 meters.
