The Former Residence of Liu Yazi is located at 75 Center Street, Lili Community, Fenhu Economic Development Zone, Wujiang City. It was listed as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level by the State Council of China in 2006.
Liu Yazi, (1887-1958), born in Lili Town, Wujiang City, is a patriotic poet and the founder of Nan She, which is the first revolution literature community at that time. In the autumn of 1922, the whole family of Liu Yazi moved to the hall of Cifu from the Zhou Shouen Hall at Hujing Bridge in the town. In May 1980, the hall of Cifu was listed as the first protect unit for relics because it was the former residence of Liu Yazi. In October 1981, it was opened to public as the exhibition room for Liu Yazi. In May 4th 1987, the memorial hall for Liu Yazi it was established. In May 28th 1987, celebrations in memory of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Liu Yazi and the establishment of his bust statue were held here by the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang and other 5 units, and from then on the memorial hall was opened for visit.
The Former Residence of Liu Yazi, having area of structure of 2,862 square meters, covers an area of 1,607.78 square meters. Besides, there are 1,024 square meters belong to the government housing management organ, which is rented for private use now. There are 60 square meters buildings are properties of the descendent of Zhou family. The residence faced with streets and near to rivers, and there are also rivers at the back of it. There are six halls along the central axis, which are entrance hall, sedan hall, main hall, great hall (also can be called Cho Fu Hall), book hall and flower hall (also can be called inner hall) etc.
