Dedicated Hall (Jingye Hall in Chinese) is located in Nanshi Street, Zhouzhuang Town, Kunshan City. It was listed as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level by the State Council of China in 2013.
It was built by Shen Benren, the descendant of Shen Wansan who was the richest man in the late of Yuan dynasty and the early of Ming dynasty, and it was in the seven Year in Qing dynasty (1742) when Qian Long was the emperor. It was renamed Songmao Garden and was commonly known as Shen’s Mansion. The whole hall covers an area of 2,019 square meters, and seated in the east and faced to the west. It was built crossover streets and along rivers. It has 7 yards along the central axis, 5 gatehouses and more than 100 rooms in various sizes, all of them arranged orderly along the central or on the two sides. The whole house can be divided into 3 parts. A horizontal inscribed board was hung in the main hall in The main hall in the center, and the characters “Songmao Garden” was inscribed by Zhang Qian, who was the champion of Nantong in the late Qing dynasty. One of the major features of this hall lies in its structure of beams, decoration both inside and outside and carvings on bricks and wood which was in the style of Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang Province.
