A meeting was held on May 13 to launch the Suzhou Water Ecology Protection Strategic Cooperation Project. Experts invited by the Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning (CAEP) provided advice and suggestions on Suzhou’s water ecology protection to further improve the city’s water environment. The experts were from 8 research institutes and universities, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Renmin University of China, Center for Satellite Application on Ecology and Environment of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, and Academy of Environmental Planning & Design Co., Ltd of Nanjing University.
According to the national and provincial requirements for resolutely fighting the battle of pollution prevention and control, the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government and the CAEP signed a strategic cooperation agreement on water ecology protection to enhance the city’s water governance and explore a new model for water ecology protection.
The expert team will help Suzhou formulate work plans for water ecology protection during the 14th Five-Year Plan period this year and put forward targeted measures next year.
