On May 12, Chen Zhenyi, director of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress, led a team to Suzhou Kowloon Hospital to learn about the operation and development of local private medical institutions.
Chen Zhenyi and others inspected the hospital’s Nuclear Medicine Department, Medical Imaging Department and Postpartum Rehabilitation Center, where they learned in detail about its efforts in introducing advanced equipment, improving diagnosis and treatment, and constructing ward facilities, as well as its future development plan.
At the subsequent symposium, the inspection team listened to the work report of the hospital and had discussions with persons in charge of the hospital and the relevant departments.
Chen Zhenyi pointed out that private medical institutions must continue to play their role in ensuring adequate supplies of basic medical care, adhere to the public welfare-oriented development concept, and give top priority to the protection of public health. He encouraged Suzhou Kowloon Hospital to expand and deepen its cooperation with Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine to further improve its medical services. Local authorities should create a business environment conducive to the development of private medical institutions, Chen said, urging stronger implementation of the supportive policies and measures and more vigorous efforts to help private medical institutions solve the difficulties and problems encountered in their development.
Miao Hongmei, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress, and Li Yonggen, secretary general of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress, participated in the inspection.
