According to data from Suzhou Power Supply Company, Suzhou consumed 79.13 billion kilowatt hours of total electricity in the first half of this year, up by 9.37% and 19.21% over the same period in 2019 and in 2020 respectively, accounting for 23.38% of the provincial total. Power consumption for the industrial sector reached 60.352 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 18.72%. In terms of regional power consumption, Taicang witnessed the highest growth rate of 23.96%, followed by Kunshan and Changshu.
From January to June, power consumption of three industries in Suzhou was 0.104, 60.91, and 10.72 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 4.72%, 18.75%, and 29.14% year-on-year respectively. And electricity consumption of residents was 7.394 billion kilowatt hours, a growth of 10.65%.
In the second half of the year, Suzhou’s power consumption will continue to rise, with an estimated annual growth rate of over 10%.
